Oxford Street
Said to be Europe's busiest shopping street, Oxford Street is a shopping paradise for people all over the world. The street is an impressive mile and a half long and has some of the
biggest stores in London on it, including Selfridge's.
Most popular during the festive season, the shops are opening for most of the day catering to the thousands of people that come in and out of them every day. The area of the street running from Marble Arch to Oxford Circus is the most popular area, how the part that runs to Tottenham Court Road has a number of stores, but on a smaller scale.
Oxford Street first grew in popularity during the 'Swinging 60s', where designer boutiques made it popular with the city's shopping elite. Nearby is the as-popular Carnaby Street, which underwent a revival during the 90s to cater to the large crowds.
With clothing stores such as River Island and Top Shop, as well as department stores such as John Lewis, Oxford Street has everything you could possibly need to do your shopping, whether it is general, festive or looking for souvenirs.
